I really like how you’ve developed Skadi as a character. She starts off as this sort of bumbling badass barbarian girl, which she, y’know, is, but she doesn’t stick to that. She /is/ a total badass who will kick ass and take names if she needs to, and while she’s not immune to being a jerkass (I’m using lots of adjectives that end in ass), she’s got this really sweet side to her, too. There are moments when she’s bashful and unsure of herself, and others where she’s charging into a horde of bad dudes with full intent to decapitate several, if not all of them. None of those sides to her feel forced, or tacked on. She’s a really well developed character who, within her world, is totally believable.
You’ve managed to take an easily stereotypical character and imagine her more complexly. She’s a cool character set in a fun world, with a story attached to it that’s been engaging for years.
That’s some really rad stuff, man. I’d offer you (and everyone else who’s worked on Skadi) a high five, but, I mean, it’s the internet. Instead I’ll just nod approvingly at my monitor.
I don’t want to sound like, ass-kissy or nothin’, I’m reading it and going “Aww” on some pages, and “Yay violence!” on others, it’s difficult to perpetuate a story and a world in which the character can go to and from both of those extremes without either of them seeming out of place. I just think it’s a really good comic, and I like to point out rad shit when it is sufficiently rad.
I still feel like this is ass-kissy, but that’s not my intent. Like I said, rad stuff, me pointing it out. So, in the future I’ll have a harshly critical follow up comment, just to like, balance things out. Look for it!
I’m three years late in responding to this, but seriously, thank you.
Any news on when Camp Weedonwantcha will be updated? I’m really looking forward to seeing the next comic.
I watched the entire Strip Search series and was rooting for you the whole time, you really deserved it. And SKADI is a great comic, too! I love this latest story line. Poor Diseasoid!
I know how this may sound, but I would love for there to be a “like” button here like there is on dummcomics. While this is mostly a lazy attempt to show my support without having to put any effort into an actual review, I would still show my love for dear Skadi by passionately clicking like on both sites every Thursday… Unless you get sick or something.
Aww, I like this!
I’m so glad that Diseasoid didn’t do something silly. And as much as Skadi can love, she does with him. Congrats! So sweet.
FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER! Wishing he could escape the life of a slave, he feels like a monster for the old lady dropping dead. Even though Skadi loves him, he knows her love comes with it disadvantages too. You are good at showing how Skadi can be a thorn in everyones side, but we root for her because she is Barbarian babe who acts on her instincts for better or worse. She loves the meats – I wish I could have her over for a BBQ some time
Todays “Skadi”-title was VERY well hidden! Nice job!
They have been very well hidden through this whole arc, the ones with them on the containers on a shelf took me forever to find
your future is written in the stars, Diseasoid!
I have to say, SKADI is just an amazing comic. I’ve just finished reading through previous posts and I am thoroughly impressed. The characters are well thought out with great story lines and art that really captures emotions. I seriously love this.
“You can’t kill me, I’m too tough!”
I second and quote what Edward Mownickle said. Amazing comic!
